“I have a 11 yr old dyslexic son who is FINALLY reading thanks to your books!…Thank you for sharing your talents. You have made a difference to us. God bless!” –Trish, Mother of a Reader
“We met you recently at the Charlestown library and really enjoyed hearing about how you write your books. We could not wait for the LA Dodgers to be released. Luckily, our local bookstore, Kennebooks, just got it in yesterday. Today we finished reading it. It was amazing. As a Red Sox fan, I will still always think the Fenway Foul-Up is your best book, but this was super interesting. I could not put it down. I will tell all my friends to read it, too…” –Anthony, Reader
“Thank you for the book. I finished it. I LOVE it.” –Reader
“My family loves your books, especially my 5 year old baseball fanatic son. ” –Mother of a Reader, California
“My son absolutely loves these mystery books. He is turning 10 next week and doesn’t enjoy reading but loves those books…the only series I can find for him to read without a fight. By the way please tell me you are working on a fourth book soon.” –Mother of a Reader, Rhode Island
“My 7 year old says, “I really like your books. Will you write a book about the Cubs or White Sox?” –Mother of a Reader via Facebook
“…I am in first grade. I am reading The Pinstripe Ghost book you wrote. I was wondering if you thought about writing one about the Detroit Tigers (my dad is a Yankee fan because he grew up in New York, but I live in Michigan and the Tigers are my favorite team)? If you need any help I can give it to you.” –Reader
“Your Ballpark Mystery series came at the perfect time in our house – a time when reading tends to slow down a bit because baseball watching and playing are in full swing. As a transplanted Red Sox fan now living in WI , my boys knew I would enjoy the first book. We finished that last night. They took turns reading the first few chapters of the Yankees book this evening with Dad. Thank you Mr. Kelly. I know several boys in town who will be first in line at the bookstore when your next book arrives.” –

“I’ve spent the last two years fighting with Jack about reading, periodically deciding to give it a rest every few months or so, for his sanity and mine…But we hung in there. And finally, this week, we made the breakthrough, and a reader was born. He looked up at me on Wednesday night and said the most miraculous, beautiful words I’d ever heard. “Hey Mom! You were right! Reading is so fun. This is a great book.”
The book we have to thank for this miracle is the Ballpark Mysteries: the Fenway Foul Up. David A. Kelly is the author and I am considering building him some sort of monument in my front yard. Thanks to his creativity Jack is giving me breathless updates about what he has just uncovered in the last chapter and his latest theories about who stole the bat. It’s the perfect book for little boys, combining mystery and baseball trivia. I only wish that David A. Kelly were further along in his series as there are only two titles published so far (the Fenway Foul Up and the Pinstripe Ghost). Book three, The LA Dodger, comes out in July. Get writing Mr. Kelly! We need to keep this boy’s love of reading fueled with your work.” –Chefdruck Blog http://chefdruck.com/2011/04/how-to-pass-on-a-love-of-reading/
“…I am 8 years old. I have read The Fenway Park Foul Up and The Pinstripe Ghost. I like Mysteries and my favorite subject is Sports and I think that is a really good combination. Are you writing a Mystery about every Ballpark? I think you should.
I am going to tell my friends about this series because I read both books over spring break. After the LA Dodger what book are you going to write or haven’t you decided? If you haven’t, I have a good one for you, what about Miller Park?” –Reader, Wisconsin
“…I REALLY like baseball, just like Mike! I really like your Ballpark Mysteries! I think it would be great if you would write one about the Colorado Rockies. My favorite player is Troy Tulowitzki, number 2. He plays shortstop, and I don’t think he has a lucky bat because he seems to use a different bat each time. I look forward to reading this book.” –Reader
